Challenge Friday time!!!

Are you ready for another challenge??? If you are, our November challenge is here and like the November kit, it's slightly different this month :)

As the November kit is full of lots of different shades of cardstock, our challenge this month is to create a LO without using any patterned paper whatsoever and which uses at least 3 different coloured cardstocks. You can alter your cardstock in any way you like to create different effects - sand it, ink it, tear it, emboss it, stamp or sew on it and we'd like you use at least one technique to alter your cardstock in some way.

We've included a sketch that you can use for inspiration if you would like to, but this month you don't have to use the sketch as part of the challenge requirements, so totally upto you if you use it or not.

Here is the sketch for those that would like to use it:

and here is my LO completed for the challenge:

I used beige, cream, brown and green cardstock which I altered by inking, crumpling, tearing and embossing using a embossing folder. I also had fun playing with canvas photo paper and used this to both print my picture out and to create the blocks on my LO. I cut the canvas into rectangles, frayed the edges and then sprayed with pink, green and beige glimmer mists. When dry I then stamped the script over the top. To finish, I used lace, blooms and die cuts included in previous Indigo Mill kits.
Although, I'm a bit of a patterned paper addict, I really enjoyed making a cardstock only LO hope you will also have lots of fun with the challenge. If you'd like to join in and be in with a chance of winning some fab goodies, please include a link to your LO in the comments section by Friday 4th December 2009.
Best of luck and I look forward to seeing your LO's.

Thankful for....something free

The last time...

.....That I feature in Scrapbook Inspirations! Sniff. Another one bites the dust. it's a shame to lose another British mag- but then I suppose reading blogs is much like a magazine's. So console yourselves- you still have us!lol

Anyway- my layout was for the sketch challenge- the original by Charlotte Lowndes. I just love these photo's of a weeny Andrew. Not so weeny now! Hope you like. TFLxx

A couple more projects

I have been busy with the lovely patterned paper Indigo Mill sent me.

Here's another layout and card for you to try.

Eager Beaver
Use Split Pea Collection (Kraft): Chicken Stock as base.Position photo's on a rough Matt of parcel paper and green bazzill. Run cork border down edge and bottom of photo's. Cut felt stars and embellish with epoxy ones. add title and journal details. distress edges of page.

'A little bird told me' card

Add green card to bottom of card blank and yellow to top. Sew around the edges. Add a strip of Earth Love Collection: Relive( bird side) into the centre. Attach folder bloom with jewel. Add rub on greeting.

Still recovering!

I think that most of you will be aware that the weekend before last was the cybercrop on UKS. Would you believe that I am still recovering from it?? I worked so hard and got so tired that I've not done a thing since. But I had a great time and used loads of IM stash so I thought I'd share some of my projects with you.

These projects all use safmat (you can buy that here). I had big plans to use rub ons for the flowers but when I came to use them I found that they came off on the protective backing- grrrr! So I found them on google images and printed them on to safmat instead. I then used glossy accents to stick beads on and embroidery thread to add the orange flowers. And you can hardly see the safmat!!
I also used safmat for the countdown to christmas clock. The numbers on the dial are printed on to safmat and then applied to the chipboard.
The title of this LO is printed on to safmat and stuck on to the patterned paper. And this LO that I did just before the CC (since we're on the matter) also has safmat. I printed the word Balquhidder on to it and you really can't see the joins. I've since made the 'b' in to a capital by using a permanent pen on the safmat- doh!

I'm loving the stuff!!

december kit sneak

really naughty sneaky peek. Will santa leave me on his list ?
anyhow gotta go as i am very busy making pretties. x em

Some more layouts from the november kit.

More from the November Kit for you.

I used " I can't beleive they are not brads" to cover the holes, thought it would be different to eyelets or ribbon. I inked over them for colour. There is some journalling on there and i apologise for dropping the silver inkpad (it's obvious!!!) .
Ripped the photo and inked it and i used the alphas which i painted over and then peeled off.

Doodle City! Drew round the circles which you can't see and used bits from the kit. Used random thickers for the title.

Home page Layout: w/c 23/11/09

I've decided to start showcasing layouts by the DT each week on the home page of the shop, as I know many customers find it inspiring to see how we use the products we sell.

This weeks layout is designed by Chell  - somehow completed amidst our chatting, cupcake eating, laughing and nipping to Tesco to buy Heat magazine to ogle the torso of the week at the Norwich Scraphappy Crop on Saturday!!

Chell's had this absolutely stunning B&W photo of her gorgeous daughter with her, aiming to use it on the Prima stitched mulberry papers.  Added together with some Say It In Swirls bling, some Aqua e-line Prima flowers, and the absolutely beautiful new Camelot Roses (Vanessa & Squire used in the layout) I think this page is just beautiful, and aptly titled too!

These Camelot Roses have to be some of my favourite flowers released from Prima this year....

And here's the culprit (in the purple top) gossiping and scoffing cupcakes! Well deserved for her efforts!! lol

The next Norwich Scraphappy crop is 12th December 2009.  If you live around the Norfolk area, it is well worth a visit!  If you'd like to come along, just email us through the shop and we'll put you in touch with Alison, the organiser.
