Challenge Friday again!

Just in case you missed the blurb last month - on the second Friday of each month I will be posting a new sketch challenge on the Millpond blog for all who would like to join in and play along. Each month we will pick our favourite entry, showcase the winning LO on the blog, and the winner will receive some great scrapping goodies from Steph.

So if you'd like to have a go, here are the details of our October challenge:

We'd like you to base your LO on the following sketch:
and just to add a couple of additional elements to the challenge we'd like your LO to feature some layering AND to use shaped paper - this can either be a pre-made patterned paper die cut shape (there are some great shaped papers in both the September and October kits from various manufacturers) or it could be one you have created yourself using a template or drawn freehand.

Here is a LO I created using the sketch. I created my own shaped paper using a template and created dimension by layering 4 different pieces of cardstock paper. Additional layers were created by handcutting my embellishments, cutting oblongs from the top layer of paper to write my journaling on the paper beneath, and using a stamp then layering the title over the stamped image.

If you'd like to join in please create a LO using the sketch, and incorporating layering and some form of shaped paper then add your completed LO in a link to this post by Monday 9th November 2009.

Best of luck to all who enter and I'm really looking forward to seeing your LO's :)

De-S-light

Hi there! Here's recent layout using Geo-hectic collection: Blueprint die-cut paper. There's a few instructions if you'd like to have ago yourself! My usual play on words for a title. Andrew got a DSlite with his birthday money- and was De-s-lighted with it!

De(s)light

Create a block on upper section of embossed bazzil, using photo's and cut sections of We R Memory Keepers (WRMK)Geo-hectic collection: Blueprint die-cut paper. Run ribbon across the width of block. Add a further patch of the die-cut paper at bottom, for title and journalling. Ink above and below the block of paper, in a bright yellow. Add title,
journal ling and embellish with blooms, buttons and badge.

Something a bit different...

using shredded paper from my shredder! (click for detail) You guessed it, it's another photo of me and t.

Used the grey cardstock, pink flowers, pink ribbon and pink dew drops from kit. Glittery alphas and black paint from stash.

I got a handful of shredded paper (mostly old bills, receipts and envelopes), laid it out on a bendy chopping board and smothered it with 1:1 pva glue and water mix. Left it overnight to harden (which it didn't - leave it for much longer and you won't have to attach it to cardstock) and transferred it to a distressed grey cardstock (no longer 12x12). Pleated the ribbon, stapled it on and added the alphas.

thanks for looking,

My October Challenge take

A bit late with this one! I've had the LO done for a while but keep forgetting to take a picture and upload it- doh! Anyway, for the October challenge on the Indigo Mill blog here I wanted to capture my thoughts about Connor on his third birthday. The cogs and things are all stuck to the flap of an envelope, which pulls out to reveal hidden letter to Connor inside, or it will when I've written it :) Don't forget to get your entries in by tomorrow night and good luck!

fizz, bang, whoosh....it (was) halloween.

Here's two halloweeny bits i made with this months kit.

A "trick or treat" bag for T. We didn't take him trick or treating, he dressed up as spiderman and took this wee bag to hunt for sweeties hidden round the house. (this was after it was photographed, of course)

Used black 12x12 cardstock - drew the "net" on in pencil.
Used the alphas as a mask and painted over them using orange and green acrylic paint.
Had to use stickles for the letters. Used the dew drops and the black sparkly netting.
Ulsa used some string for the handles.

A halloween LO using the Orange Bling, green paint, a black sharpie, the gorgeous sparkly ribbon, two flowers and dew drops.

Only thing not from the kit is the Adornit Halloween Mini Alphas and a Boo and "halloween" tag which i have had for ages!

Brand new... 4heures37 "7 bis avenue Nicephore" collection

I could not resist the offerings from this new French scrapbook company, quirky, cute and bright coloured.  And I love the fact that all the journalling spots are in French, it just adds to it.  A lovely fresh colour palette and a combination of hand drawn pictures and old fashioned patterns put it right up my street.

So of course I had to have a play with it! :)

You can find the whole range here in the shop - 6 double sided papers, a clear stamp set, and some gorgeous 'badge' sets.

Happily ever after

I used the gorgeous Prima Indeed patterned papers to create this LO of my daughter's wedding, using some diamond glaze to highlight the lushness (is that even a word??) of these papers!

Some sneeky peeks from me.....

...and very little disturbances here in Derby as i have been busy crafting away with Novembers Kit!

Here are some better sneeky peeks:

enjoy! Doesn't give much away really does it!!! Well, i used lots of glue, paint, chalks, stickles and guess what? Yes, i made a mess :) Wanted to do some stitching but couldn't find the box i packed my sewing machine, needles and thread in.
